Lets be honest, Running your own business is hard.
You are trying to do everything, be everywhere and make everyone happy- clients, family, friends and lastly yourself. But what about when you have a negative client review or feedback?
It floors you, suddenly you feel like you are not good enough, you start to question if you really should be doing this, and you even ask yourself will this work. You doubt your ability, your passion and your talents.
You are not alone. I have been there, and I know other have been as well.
How do you pick your self-back up?
Firstly, ask yourself, did you do the best you can? Were you happy with the product or service that you provided? If you can honestly say that you did the best you can then you need to be at peace with this.
I have been told so many times as I’m sure you have, that you cannot please everyone, its humanly impossible. This is just a fact of business that you need to accept. (I am still trying to). If you can rectify the situation do, send a replacement or offer to redo the work, whatever it may be, but don’t be disheartened of the client refuses, remember you have tried.
When a negative review turns personal- that’s when it hurts. Personally, speaking I do not see the need to attack someone as an individual, but people do it. And it can be hurtful and nasty. But what do you do when all you want to hide away and pretend it’s not happening?
My advice- be humble and polite. Be the bigger person. DO NOT get into a war of words. Apologise that they feel this way, and it was not your intention for the situation to get to this and wish them all the best. END OF STORY.
Spend the energy on yourself and getting your confidence back. Surround yourself with people who will nurture you and lift you up.
It is ok to be upset by this, you are only human, and you have feelings and emotions. Ride the wave and focus on the positive. Re-read positive client feedback, speak to friends and family or even go and have a glass of wine.
Whatever makes you feel better.
You never really know what’s going on in someone else’s life. They may be having a difficult day, be struggling financially or have had some bad news. Although that is never a reason why you should be unkind, unfortunately it happens. There is some psychology around why people act this way and I have included it below for those of you that are interested.
4 reasons why people are negative:

Please remember to try and let these comments wash over you and not let it affect you. Learn from your mistakes, we all make them and move on.
Don’t dwell on the past, and don’t let one person’s option of you ruin your dreams and goals!
